LA PATISSERIE, THE TAJ MAHAL PALACE, MUMBAI | 2024
La Patisserie at the Taj Mahal Palace sought a complete transformation of its packaging—one that would reflect the luxury, grandeur, and enduring legacy of the hotel, while solving real concerns around durability and functionality. The pastel boxes used previously lacked the visual distinction and structure needed to protect delicate desserts.
The goal was to craft a packaging experience that elevated the product, honoured the brand's heritage, and felt as refined and indulgent as the landmark itself.

The new design took direct cues from the hotel's iconic architecture: the terracotta dome, stone-white facades, and glimpses of the Mumbai skyline were reinterpreted through a rich deep red base, delicate gold foiling, and accents of green and blue.
The packaging introduced multiple box shapes—octagonal, square, rectangular, and flat envelope styles—each tailored to different dessert offerings. A special multi-compartment box held five desserts, while trays with subtle pull tabs provided elegant solutions for long signature chocolates. Structural rigidity ensured protection, while thoughtful branding details—such as dome illustrations inside the lids, product identification without opening, and neatly designed information cards—enhanced the unboxing experience with layers of discovery.

What sets this transformation apart is the way it brings together tradition, luxury, and innovation in equal measure. From the flying pigeons and the facade on the exterior to the hidden dome artwork inside, every detail contributes to a sensory journey that resonates with the timeless elegance of the hotel. More than packaging, it becomes a narrative—one where each dessert is not just presented but celebrated. The result is a lasting impression, where functionality meets beauty, and every touchpoint feels unmistakably worthy of the Taj Mahal Palace.
